PokerStars launches outdoor ad campaign
Operator aiming to recruit customers through advertising along England's Southern Rail network.

PokerStars has launched an outdoor advertising campaign targeting commuters as it looks to publicise the release of its mobile app to UK customers.
The campaign, developed in partnership with outdoor media buyer Transport Media, will run for a month on the Southern Railway network, which connects commuter regions like Kent and Sussex to central London. The adverts will feature the slogan ‘Pray for a delay’, aiming to prompt customers to download and play the app on their journeys.
Mark Dolan, outdoor consultant for Transport Media, told marketing news site The Drum: “”83% of frequent rail users access the internet at least once per day and they are twice as likely to own a smart phone.
“Train Advertising provides a positive captive environment, with the average commuter spending 22 minutes within the train carriage, allowing them to absorb and interact with the advertising message and download the Pokerstars App to their mobile phone or tablet,” Dolan explained.
Stars launched its mobile app for UK players in February this year alongside an Italian-facing Android version, after the release of an iOS version for dot.it customers in January. This was followed by the release of Android and iOS versions in France and in markets catered for by its Malta-licensed dot.eu site – including Sweden, Finland, Romania, Slovenia and Poland – in April.
Meanwhile, the operator has also been voted one of the best places to work in the UK for 2012 coming 22nd in the Great Place to Work Institute’s annual survery. This is the first time the Isle of Man business has made the list. The Institute said PokerStars offered “enhanced maternity and paternity benefits, including a ‘baby bounty’ one-off payment for primary carers of babies, to help them with costs”.
