Poll results: RMG on Facebook will struggle during 2014
Respondents to this week's eGR poll believe real-money gaming on the social network will fail to make traction in next 12 months

Real-money gaming (RMG) launched through social media site Facebook is set to struggle in 2014, according to the majority of respondents to this week’s eGaming Review poll.
Earlier this month, social gaming giant Zynga became the first operator to launch a real-money poker product on Facebook through ZyngaPlusPoker.
This is to be shortly followed by the full launch of Paddy Power’s In-Play app with bwin’s long-awaited social sports RMG product also waiting in the wings.
With this flurry of activity in mind, we asked whether 2014 could be the year operators finally find success and growth with RMG on Facebook.
Operators have so far found little joy from Facebook and nobody yet seems to have cracked the code for monetising RMG on the social network.
And in what was very much a one-sided vote, almost three quarters of readers (71%) said RMG will not be a success on the social platform over the next 12 months either.
Meanwhile, only 12% of readers felt operators would achieve significant real-money success this year and 17% believed Facebook RMG growth would be limited.
San Francisco-based Zynga’s recent launch followed in the footsteps of 888, Paddy Power, Bonza and Gamesys, the latter being the first operator to launch RMG on Facebook back in 2012 and set to continue this strategy following the recent launch of its Virgin-branded poker app.
