Rakesh Chablani named Betfred Digital MD
Former commercial director takes over from outgoing Chris Sheffield this week
Betfred has named Rakesh Chablani as the new managing director of its digital business, eGaming Review can reveal.
Chablani joined Betfred’s online arm in August 2011 as commercial director and assumed his new role yesterday, taking over from outgoing MD Chris Sheffield.
The pair will work together as part of a handover process until Sheffield officially stands down at the end of August.
“Hats off to Chris, he has been a great mentor and was key in my personal development process,” Chablani told eGR this morning.
He brings a wealth of online gaming experience both from product and marketing roles at the likes of Mansion and Victor Chandler, as well as the head of acquisitions and head of affiliates roles he held at Betfred.
The new MD faces a busy six months in the role, and dealing with the UK’s upcoming licensing and Point of Consumption tax regime is top of his agenda.
“We’ll be going through the UK licensing application and managing the business to make sure we are controlling our margins efficiently, changing the dynamics of our marketing strategy to better reflect PoC tax controls,” Chablani said.
He will be working closely with the newly appointed group CEO John Haddock, whose appointment is designed to help the operator create a holistic product and customer experience across the entire Betfred brand.
