Rightlander targets Spanish affiliates with Covid-19 gambling ad ban tool
Affiliate compliance specialist launches new report aimed at identifying non-compliant firms

Rightlander has introduced a ‘Fast Track’ bonus tracking report for Spanish operators responding to the Spanish government’s decision to ban online gambling advertising following the Covid-19 outbreak.
The special report helps operators identify affiliate pages promoting bonuses alongside an operator’s existing brand, something which is currently forbidden under the ban.
In addition, the report looks for ‘life changing’ keywords that may be used in affiliate marketing material, i.e. terms which imply that gambling can change an individual’s life by improving either their lifestyle or appearance.
Operators will also receive a list of affiliates sending Spanish traffic to their brand’s non .es domains as part of the report.
Earlier this month, the Spanish government brought forward a proposed ban on gambling advertising prohibiting the use of bonuses and promotional offers as part of new Covid-19 themed rules.
In addition, Spain’s government has said operators will only be allowed to advertise gambling products between 1am and 5am in emergency legislation which will apply to TV, radio and online video sites, including YouTube.
Rightlander founder Ian Sims said the firm had received an influx of requests from operators since the ban was announced, expressing his hope that the report would make a “sudden and big impact” on operators.
“Rightlander is ideally positioned to make these sorts of snap decisions as we already have a substantial database of Spanish language affiliate sites that we scan regularly, although, until now that has mainly been for affiliate links to non-ES domains, as per the local regulator’s guidelines,” Sims added.
