Scientific Games launches Covid-19 compliant tools for land-based casino operators
Supplier to bring cashless payments and tech-powered social distancing to land-based venues

Scientific Games has released a number of technology-based initiatives targeted at land-based operators to protect returning casino patrons and employees following the coronavirus pandemic.
As part of its response to the forthcoming reopening of many US casinos, the Las Vegas-based supplier has developed new protocols which aim to comply with new US social distancing and sanitation requirements.
A cashless solution dubbed the Unified Wallet will allow players to access funds to play slots and tables via a mobile app which revokes the need to use cash, kiosks or ATMs.
The Unified Wallet also reduces the need for ticket printers, redemption stands and validators as the app can manage and navigate those processes via one centralised database
Scientific Games has developed three separate initiatives for operators to adhere to the new safety measures dealing with social distancing requirements, including dynamic distancing, which closes all kiosks within the immediate vicinity of a player to ensure social distancing is maintained.
In addition, the EGM Scheduler tool will allow operators to upload a list of games that can remain enabled on the casino floor, which can be updated quickly and remotely via the Control EGM feature. Game Reserve will allow players to reserve the game of their choice when visiting the casino to stop potential overlap and queueing.
Matt Wilson, Scientific Games CEO, said the product developments would be important in Sci Games casino partners maintaining compliance when lockdown measures are relaxed.
Wilson said: “Scientific Games has always been committed to innovation, but it is now more critical than ever to develop solutions that help our partners address and adapt to the new normal.
“Our suite of contactless gaming solutions enables our partners to deliver a new, yet fun and engaging gaming experience for their players all while keeping them safe. This advanced technology sets a new standard for the industry and is available for our partners now,” he added.
