Shuffle Master renamed SHFL Entertainment
Name change effective immediately " 'SHFL' is company's NASDAQ ticker symbol.
Shuffle Master has announced that it has changed its name to SHFL Entertainment with immediate effect.
The change is designed to reflect the company’s range of products, which has evolved in recent years to include egaming along with its electronic gaming tables, automated playing card shufflers and other casino management systems.
In a statement, CEO Gavin Isaacs said of the name change: “The ‘SHFL’ part pays tribute to the name of the company chosen by our founder, John Breeding, and the company’s legacy product, card shufflers. ‘SHFL’ is the company’s NASDAQ ticker symbol, which was selected by the company when it was publicly listed, an important milestone in our history.
“‘Entertainment’ embodies what we provide to the industry with our expanded product lines, namely proprietary table games, e-tables, slot machines, utility products, and iGaming solutions.”
The name change will be officially unveiled today at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas and was explained by SHFL entertainment Isaacs at a gaming investment forum at the conference yesterday.
Last month, the company posted year-on-year revenues of 9% for Q3 despite expenses incurred on due diligence as part of a planned acquisition, cancelled in June, of poker network Ongame, which was yesterday bought from bwin.party by Amaya for up to 25m. Other expenses included the hiring of Louis Castle to the position of chief strategy officer.
In July, the company received its online poker licence from the Nevada Gaming Commission.
