Sisal launches new innovation lab in Turin
Italian retail giant partners up with Talent Garden to “incubate innovation” across AI responsible gambling solutions

Sisal has opened a new tech lab in Turin designed to incubate innovation and cultivate new ideas to help the gambling industry progress in the future.
Since June 2021, the operator has occupied a spot at the Agnelli Foundation in the city as part of a larger plan of economic and employment investments to inspire innovation in the sector.
The collaborative nature of the project has seen Sisal link up with leading tech initiatives like Talent Garden, which was founded in 2011 and describes itself as “an unprecedented combination of creative coworking, internal educational institution and industry-driven events to connect tech talents inside a network of campuses”.
Indeed, the Italian operator employs more than 500 staff, or 25% of its workforce to write code and implement new technologies across the business.
The innovation lab was built as a networking opportunity between the operator as well as local universities, research centres and start-ups.
It aims to be an external observatory of digital issues and a great incubator of ideas which can then be translated into concrete projects, according to Sisal.
Projects to have arisen from the lab to date include the exploration and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and how it can be applied to Sisal’s responsible gambling procedures.
Sisal finished second in terms of online sports betting revenue in the Italian market during May.
