Sisal taps BT as tech partner ahead of National Lottery bid
Italian operator seals strategic partnership with telecoms giant as it looks to wrest licence from Camelot

Italian gaming operator Sisal has partnered with British telecommunications giant BT as part of its bid for the fourth UK National Lottery licence.
Under the remit of the partnership, BT will provide the Milan-headquartered firm with advice on how to combine UK mobile and fixed networks with the latest technology to widen the appeal of the National Lottery.
Sisal is looking to secure the fourth National Lottery licence in 2023 and will compete against incumbent Camelot and Czech challengers Sazka, under its UK-facing brand Allwyn.
In April, Allwyn secured a partnership with telecoms firm Vodafone ahead of its bid for the licence.
Francesco Durante, Sisal CEO, said BT’s “unparalleled understanding of the UK market” was a key reason for inking the partnership.
Durante said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with BT. As the UK’s leading telecommunications and networks provider, BT has unparalleled understanding of the UK market and its transformative digital expertise, customer focused approach and commitment to innovation will ensure that our bid will deliver the best possible solution for the UK National Lottery.”
Dean Terry, BT Enterprise MD for the corporate and public sector, added: “BT’s technology solutions can ensure that the National Lottery maximises the amount of money raised for good causes, while better protecting those players most at risk from gambling harms.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with Sisal to support their bid with the aim of delivering a National Lottery which is fit for the future by putting technology innovation at its heart,” he concluded.
