SKS365 appoints former Italian politician to CSR and compliance role

Italian sports betting operator SKS365 has named Maurizio Bernardo as its new senior strategic advisor in Italy.

As part of his new role, Bernardo will assist SKS365 in developing compliance programmes as well as aiding the company in stakeholder relations.

SKS365 confirmed Bernardo will also take part in the development of corporate social responsibility at the company and can recruit “specialised” professionals with the goal of “perfecting compliance issues and related activities”.

A member of the Italian parliament from 2006-2018, Maurizio Bernardo was president of the 6^th Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and has also served within the local regional government of the Italian province of Lombardy.

SKS365’s Italian country manager, Francesco Gaziano, said the appointment of Bernardo strengthened the company’s commitment to its core market of Italy.

“Giving central importance to the Italian market also means creating high employment levels, as well as ensuring relevant tax revenues for the Country’s economy,” Gaziano added.

Bepi Pezzulli, SKS365 general legal counsel, highlighted Bernardo as being an “important asset”, adding strategic competence to the company as it looked to strengthen its compliance and governance.

“The entry of Maurizio certainly increases our ability to produce high level corporate social responsibility initiatives,” Pezzulli added.
