SkyCity CEO resigns from GiG board
Michael Ahearne leaves firm with immediate effect after less than a year on the board

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has announced that board member Michael Ahearne has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Ahearne joined the board at GiG after SkyCity Entertainment Group became a shareholder in the Malta-headquartered firm in connection with the acquisition of Sportnco Gaming in April 2022.
Following his resignation, Ahearne will focus his efforts on his commitments as SkyCity CEO in New Zealand and Australia.
The GiG board thanked Aherne for his contribution to the company during his time as director.
In a statement, GiG said that SkyCity will be represented on its nomination committee and will participate in proposing a board composition for the firm’s annual shareholder meeting in May.
GiG also stated that SkyCity would continue to contribute to the firm’s development.
The group confirmed that the remaining board members, chairman Petter Nylander, Nicolas Adlercreutz, Kathryn Moore Baker, Mikael Riese Harstad, Kjetil Garstad and Hessi Mocca, will stay on in their current roles.
Elsewhere, GiG agreed a deal last month with Catena Media to acquire its AskGamblers subsidiary and its associated online casino brands JohnSlots and NewCasinos, in a deal worth €45m (£39.7m).
The deal is expected to be completed at some point in Q1 2023.
