
Smarkets goes live in Sweden
Exchange operator expands European footprint while keeping keen eye on US growth


Betting exchange Smarkets is open for business in Sweden as the London-headquartered firm continues its international expansion.
Following approval from Swedish gambling regulator the Swedish Gambling Authority, Smarkets in set to the become the second licensed betting exchange to go live in the Scandinavian nation after Betfair.
Swedish customers will be able to access the platform at Smarkets.com and bet, lay and trade across categories such as sport, politics and current affairs.
The operator soft-launched its SBK sportsbook mobile app in Colorado in June and plans to unveil the app, which uses the Smarkets exchange for its pricing, in Indiana during H2 2020.

Jason Trost, Smarkets CEO, said he was anticipating a swathe of interest in the platform among Swedish consumers.
Trost said: “We know that customers in Sweden have been eagerly anticipating us going live, so I’m very excited to launch the Smarkets exchange there.
“I am confident that our market-leading prices and superior product will appeal to Swedish customers. The fact that we own our tech stack is one of the reasons we are able to offer the best pricing in the industry, and I’m really looking forward to growing our user base in Sweden,” he added.
