Snaitech matches bet365 in October Italian online betting rankings
Playtech-owned operator reaps the rewards as retail customers migrate online due to Covid-19 shop closures

Competition has intensified in the Italian online sports betting market after Snaitech reported gross gaming revenue (GGR) of €16.4m for the month of October.
Perennial leader bet365 still topped the rankings ahead of Snaitech, albeit by a mere €14,000.
The Playtech-owned operator narrowed the gap at the top of the leaderboard due to its land-based customers migrating online as retail outlets remain closed due to Covid-19 prevention measures.
SKS365 (€15.3m), Eurobet (€15.3m) and Sisal (€13.3m) rounded off the top five, while Goldbet narrowly missed out with an online October GGR of €11.6m.
Lottomatica (€5.2m) was the only other operator to record online GGR of more than €5m in the period.
Combined revenue for the country’s 65 biggest online operators reached €125.8m for the month.
Bet365 also triumphed in the online turnover rankings for October, raking in €187.6m on a margin of 9.8%, to beat closest rival Eurobet (€88m) on a margin of 17.3%.
Bet365 obtained 23% market share as a percentage of online turnover last month and 13% of market share as a percentage of online GGR.
Snaitech topped the combined retail and online rankings for October after recording GGR of €36.9m, while the retail rankings were dominated by Goldbet (€25m).
Bet365 has no retail presence in the country.
Last month, Sisal was crowned operator of the year at the EGR Italy Virtual Awards 2020.
