
Snaitech piles pressure on bet365 in July Italian online betting rankings
Playtech-owned operator reports biggest combined retail and digital revenue for July as land-based sector rallies


Italian wagering giant Snaitech has closed the gap on perennial market leader bet365 in the country’s online betting rankings for July 2020.
The Playtech-owned operator reported gross gaming revenue (GGR) of €12.3m (£11.1m) last month, narrowly trailing bet365 (€12.5m), which has conquered the online table for every month of 2020 to date.
SKS365 (€11m), Eurobet (€9.8m) and Sisal (€9.4m) rounded off the top five, after Goldbet (€8m) dropped a position on June’s figures.
Online GGR for Italy’s 18 biggest gambling operators, including the likes of bwin, William Hill and Betfair, reached a combined €80.4m for July, up from €57m in the month prior.
Stoke-headquartered bet365 also triumphed in the online turnover rankings for July, raking in €165.7m on a margin of 7.5%, to beat closest rival Eurobet (€78.9m) on a margin of 11.3%.
Bet365 obtained 23.7% of market share as a percentage of online turnover last month and 14.2% of market share as a percentage of online GGR.
Italy’s retail betting sector bounced back in July following several months of Covid-19 closures.
Brick-and-mortar revenue for the country’s 14 biggest land-based operators hit €47.5m, up from €0 in May when all outlets were forced to shut.
Goldbet (€18.9m) topped the retail rankings for July, while Snaitech brought in the biggest combined online and offline revenue for the period, totalling €26.9m.
Online-only bet365 has no retail presence in the market.
