Spain formalises first responsible gambling board
New cross-sector board will advise regulator on RG issues and create policy

Spain has reformed its responsible gambling advisory council to create the country’s first legally recognised responsible gaming body.
The role of the new Responsible Gaming Advisory board will be to assist the regualtor, DGOJ, in formulating, monitoring and executing public policies in responsible gaming.
Twenty-five representatives from across the industry have been appointed to the board including healthcare professionals, officials from regional governments and academics specialising in psychology. Also appointed to the board are employees from operators including Playtech, RFranco digital, Luckia games and Cirsa.
The current director general of the DGOJ, Juan Espinosa García has been appointed as president of the Responsible Gaming Advisory Board.
The board is a reformed version of the Advisory Council on Responsible Gaming, which was first created in 2013 informally, with the objective of advising the DGOJ on the development of a responsible gaming strategy.
However, the growth and development of the Spanish market over the intervening period has necessitated formalising this function.
