Spielo G2 extends Svenska Spel poker deal
Firm will continue to provide Swedish operator with its online poker product for a further four years

Svenska Spel will continue to use Spielo G2’s poker product for four more years, after the two parties extended their agreement today.
The monopoly operator had used software from Spielo G2 subsidiary Boss Media since 2006, and has the option to extend the new four-year deal for a further four years. The extension of the deal would allow Spielo International to “maintain a key stronghold in the Nordic countries”, according to CEO Walter Bugno. The provider also runs regulated online poker offerings in Canada, Spain and Italy, as well as its dot.com poker network.
Spielo G2, formerly known as GTECH G2 before rebranding in December, is the online arm of Spielo International, which has provided video lottery technology to Svenska Spel for several years. “Choosing market-leading partners is important in our effort to fulfil our customers’ needs and the responsibilities set by the owner,” Peter Zäll, senior vice president of sports, number and instant games at Svenska Spel, said.
Svenska Spel saw online poker revenues decline by 13.7% year-on-year for the three months ended 31 March 2013. Its dot.se poker offering averages 730 cash game players according to Pokerscout, putting it 12th worldwide for traffic, just ahead of the Revolution Gaming Network.
The Swedish Ministry of Finance is expected to introduce proposals to regulate the country’s egaming market in the coming weeks, with a view to making changes which crack down on the country’s illegal gambling market.
