Sportingbet unveils social betting app
Real-money operator launches Wikibetting-powered free-to-play betting product on the Facebook platform

Sportingbet has made its first push into social gaming with the launch of a new free-to-play sports betting app on Facebook in partnership with social platform provider Wikibetting.
Sportingbet Play is a peer-to-peer betting product which enables players to place virtual currency bets and create the odds of a particular event.
The app was launched in partnership with Wikibetting, a social betting provider founded in 2012, and incorporates social gaming elements such as friend invites, leaderboards, a news feed and free gifts.
“It is great to have the likes of Sportingbet taking an interest so early with our social betting platform range, and helping us during our beta testing stage to further develop the products,” Mark Hothersall, Wikibetting’s business development manager, said.
eGaming Review also understands that Wikibetting is in talks with an additional sports betting operator which is expected to launch Facebook app next month.
The launch of Sportingbet Play follows the recent release of Sportster – Bet and Win, a free-to-play betting app developed by bwin.party’s social gaming division Win and Top Eleven creator Nordeus.
