Australian sports betting firm debuts above-the-line marketing campaign signposting safer gambling tools for players

Sportsbet has launched a new “take a sec before you bet” safer gambling campaign aimed at encouraging Australian punters to utilise the Flutter Entrainment-owned operator’s safer gambling tools.
The campaign will feature above-the-line marketing on TV, radio and newspapers as well as outdoor billboards, and via social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
It aims to raise awareness around players setting deposit limits while also normalising the use of safer gambling tools.

To aid this campaign, the firm has added media to its existing online site signposting players to a dedicated responsible gambling hub with educational resources around RG, tools and strategies, resources for families dealing with an at-risk gambler and support services.
Sportsbet has said the new campaign will serve as the primary focus of its media investment.

Addressing the increased focus on RG, Sportsbet CEO Barni Evans highlighted the industry’s “integral” role and commitment to raising awareness around safer betting practices.
“We have a vital role in the promotion of safer gambling and a responsibility to use our profile to send the message: no matter who you bet with, we want you to do so in a way that is safe and responsible,” Evans said.
“And setting a deposit limit is a proactive way to help keep your betting in check,” the Sportsbet CEO added.
Sportsbet serves as parent company Flutter Entertainment’s main Australia-facing brand, having previously absorbed BetEasy in April 2020, as part of Flutter’s efforts to deal with the impact of Covid-19.
