Stars launches Zoom in France
Fast-fold offering is made available online and on mobile.

PokerStars last night launched its fast-fold poker variant ‘Zoom’ for customers on its dot.fr site.
The operator was granted approval to offer the product by French regulatory body l’Autorité de Régulation des Jeux En Ligne (ARJEL) earlier this month, and went live yesterday at 8pm central European time.
Stars, whose dot.fr poker offering ranks second behind Winamax for cash game traffic, has made the new variant available online and on its mobile app, for No Limit Hold’em at stakes up to 0.05/0.10.
The operator already offers Zoom on its dot.com and dot.it sites, with Italian licensees permitted to offer fast-fold poker since July 2012. Its other dot.country offerings – in Belgium, Denmark, Estonia and Spain – also offer the variant.
Last week saw ARJEL president Jean-François Vilotte restate his hopes for pooled liquidity across Europe, following a 5.4% decline in dot.fr cash poker amounts staked in 2012.
Nine poker licensees, including 888 and TitanPoker, handed back their French licences last year due to concerns over what has been described by some as an “unworkable” market.
