STS secures six-year Poland online betting licence
Operator can legally offer online sports betting to customers until 2024 after a license extension was granted by Poland’s Minister of Public Finance

Polish bookmaker STS has received a six-year online betting licence from the country’s Minister of Public Finance, EGR Intel has learned.
The operator’s previous online licence was granted in 2012 and was set to expire on 23 February, but the extension means STS will be able to legally offer online sports betting until 2024.
STS currently holds an estimated 48% share of the Polish betting market and is one of seven operators in the country working under an online licence.
Its online competitors include Fortuna, Totolotek, eTOTO, Milenium, LVBet and Forbet, with more set to follow in 2018 after recent applications from the likes of Superbet.
“The future of the betting market is based on internet channels and new technologies,” said STS CEO Mateusz Juroszek. “Currently, approximately 80% of our turnover is generated online.
“We are constantly developing in this area in order to offer our clients more and more services of the highest quality.
“STS is the leader in its market and that is why we constantly invest in innovations.”
STS has also invested in marketing recently by adding the Polish futsal league to its sponsorship portfolio in January, which already includes the Polish national football team.
Operators and industry trade groups have criticised the market’s punitive 12% turnover tax, but active operators have made it work by passing the charges onto their customers.
