Sun Bets pens Stayers’ Hurdle sponsorship deal
Tabcorp-powered site to sponsor the prestigious long-distance hurdling event as part of a new three-year agreement

Sun Bets was today named the new sponsor of the Cheltenham Festival’s Stayers’ Hurdle as the Tabcorp-powered site continues to expand its brand presence in horseracing.
The online betting site will sponsor the Grade One long-distance hurdle as part of a new three-year deal which comes just weeks after becoming a category sponsor for the 2016-17 All-Weather Championships.
As a result of today’s deal, the three-mile hurdling championship event will reverts to its original title after being named the World Hurdle since 2005 when backed by Ladbrokes.
The Grade One Stayers’ Hurdle will take place at Cheltenham on 16 March.
Tim Reynolds, head of PR at Sun Bets, said: “As an Authorised Betting Partner, we are delighted to welcome the opportunity to be associated with the Cheltenham Festival and sponsor a race as prestigious as the Stayers’ Hurdle.”
Sun Bets has been live since August with former Hills’ man Jamie Hart leading the Sun Bets operation in the UK following his appointment in June.
In an exclusive interview with EGR earlier this year, Tabcorp CEO David Attenborough said the firm was planning significant investment in making the Sun Bets app more unique through integration of more The Sun editorial content.
