Superbet adds ex-Huffington Post CEO as deputy chair
Tech and media veteran Jimmy Maymann to join Romanian operator’s board of directors ahead of planned IPO

Superbet has appointed former Huffington Post (now HuffPost) CEO Jimmy Maymann as its new deputy chair as it continues to bolster its boardroom.
The tech entrepreneur and investor founded online video distribution platform Goviral which was eventually sold to AOL in 2011.
Maymann stayed with AOL following the sale as SVP of the international media business before joining the Huffington Post as CEO in October 2012.
He later returned to AOL in August 2015 as EVP of content and consumer brands.
Maymann is currently the chair of UNLive, TV2 Denmark and AirHelp, while also holding non-executive roles with Telia AB, Pitzner Group and The Maternity Foundation.
He joins the Romanian operator as it looks to enter its next period of growth, including an IPO before the end of 2025.
This strategy saw founder and chair Sacha Dragic step down earlier this year to be replaced by new chair of the board, Hans-Holger Albrecht.
Speaking on joining the firm as deputy chair, Maymann said he was “delighted” to link up with the operator ahead of its next growth phase.
Maymann remarked: “Superbet has tremendous potential in terms of business scalability and expansion into international markets, all within a solid framework of trust between the group, its customers and market stakeholders.
“The progressive thinking of the leadership team is a testament to this highly talented and visionary group.”
Albrecht, Superbet chair, added: “We are confident that Jimmy will have a strong positive impact on the group’s strategy and business model, while working together to shape an even brighter future for Superbet.
“Jimmy has an impressive background, which seamlessly blends successful entrepreneurial endeavours with important corporate assignments. As such, he is a perfect fit for the mindset and organisational culture which we are nurturing in Superbet.”
