Superbet hires James Curwen to lead online gaming division
Curwen joins up with former William Hill colleagues Jamie Hart, Stuart Weston and Finbarr Joy as operator’s chief gaming officer

Superbet has hired ex-William Hill gaming exec James Curwen as its new chief gaming officer, EGR Intel has learned, joining a raft of former Hills colleagues on the operator’s senior online team.
Curwen had been working for Superbet on a consultancy basis for the last few months and in his new role will oversee all gaming operations within the group.
He joins a growing list of former William Hill colleagues at Superbet, which now includes director of ecommerce Jamie Hart, Gibraltar MD Stuart Weston, CTO Finbarr Joy and chief scientific officer Peter Morgan.
“He [CEO Sacha Dragic] has put together a great team, most of which I’ve obviously worked with before, and I’ve got a lot of trust in the people he’s brought in,” Curwen told EGR Intel.
Curwen added: “I was very confident that we can achieve a great deal and put a dent in the tier-one.
“I’m looking over the next 18 months to start really accelerating the brand and then after that to start entering regulated markets with a team that has got used to working together.
“You can’t just do the same as everyone anymore, you have to change the game and diversify.”
Since joining Superbet, Curwen said he has already put together a “crack team” of online gaming talent from the likes of William Hill, Gala Coral and Paddy Power Betfair.
Curwen continued: “The people I’ve put together aren’t just good people, they are those who I think can disrupt the industry
“I’ve hired what I believe is a team of disruptors, so that everything we do we just do better than everyone else.
“If anyone’s going to scare the market, this team together should worry people.”
Prior to joining Superbet, Curwen worked at William Hill for more than six years in a number of senior gaming roles including director of gaming P&L and chief gaming product officer.
He left the operator earlier this year alongside Weston and chief experience officer Juergen Reutter.
