Svenska Spel speeds up ID process with new software integration
Swedish operator plugs in Freja eID to combat potential downtime and widen customer choice

Svenska Spel has completed the integration of a new electronic identification method it claims will combat potential downtime and widen customer choice.
The former monopoly operator can now offer users Freja eID verification software as an alternative to BankID, which is more commonly available to Swedish gambling consumers.
Users can make electronic signatures, prove their age and identity and control who gets access to their personal data with Freja eID.
Rickard Wahlin, product manager customer, account & payments at Svenska Spel, said customers will benefit by having more options for ID verification.
“We will benefit by providing alternatives and the customer will benefit by having a choice,” Wahlin told EGR Intel. “It is the same way as it is with payment methods, really you need more than one.
“Most importantly it has to do with redundancy. If one method goes down, we can provide an alternative method to the customer.
“Since Freja is easy to register, the customer will register when needed, or hopefully even before,” he added.
Svenska Spel recently chose SBTech to provide its sportsbook platform for the Swedish market.
