Technical hiccups hinder Kindred Group’s Dutch launch
Operator’s launch in the Netherlands impacted by issues with behaviour monitoring system

Kindred Group’s flagship brand Unibet has encountered teething pains with its player safety system, which has led to players being unable to claim their full welcome bonus.
Unibet implemented its Player Safety – Early Detection System (PS-EDS) in the Netherlands when it launched in the region a week ago.
The PS-EDS system is used to detect potentially irresponsible gambling behaviour. It detects this behaviour through various factors, for example, the pursuit of losses or repeated visits to the promotions page.
In this instance, the system parameters were set up too sensitively, and as a result, normal gambling behaviour was regarded as potentially irresponsible.
In particular, Unibet found that the system detected players frequenting the bonus page as an indicator of irresponsible gambling.
The system then puts a bonus block measure in place; which led to players complaining to the Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) about the issue.
In a statement to EGR, the operator said: “At Unibet, we monitor the gaming behaviour of all our players.
“The system has now been adjusted for sensitivity. Most of the affected players have already received their welcome bonus. For the other players, we are working hard to solve all problems as soon as possible.”
This news comes just a day after the brand went live, after having waited eight months following the imposition of a cooling-off period by the KSA.
