Tipico launches Tippn sportsbook app
New appâs one-swipe betting interface targets casual punters as operator continues its digital transition
German retail and online operator Tipico has moved to bolster its mobile offering with the launch of a new native application for iOS.
The Tippn app was built in collaboration with Berlin-based developer Couchsport and will be initially available through the German Apple app store.
Focus has been put on usability and navigation, with bets placed by dragging a logo of the team you want to back from a selection of prompts into a circle on the stripped-down UI. Accumulators can be built by dragging multiple teams into the circle.
The app will sit alongside the operatorâs existing full sportsbook native application, which is available on iOS and Android.
âTippn is refreshingly straightforward, intuitive to use and also an eye-catcher,â Jan Bolz, Tipico CEO, said. âWith Tippn we are opening up a new space for football betting, where the fun clearly comes first and Tipicoâs successful and safe betting offer is presented in an unprecedented form.â
The move towards âone-swipe bettingâ and a marketing campaign emphasising the fun and social elements of gambling appear designed to target casual players and new acquisitions, as Tipico continues its digital transition despite maintaining a strong retail presence.
Tippn is the first app developed by start-up Couchsport, although the firm has also launched the beta version of a push messaging live score application.
“We have seen that there are currently only a few products in the sports betting market that provide both simplicity and fun despite the fact that the market potential is huge,â Alex Napetschnig, founder of Couchsport, said.
âThis is where we come in. We present current betting offers, such as Tipico, in a new light,â he added.
