Unibet begins major poker marketing push
The gambling operator invested a six-figure sum on UK TV adverts following launch of new standalone poker client

Swedish-listed operator Unibet has launched a major six-week marketing campaign to coincide with the release of its new standalone poker product.
The campaign, which kicked off at the start of the week, includes a new UK-focused TV advertisement which is being aired across all Sky TV channels as well as through various social media sites.
The operator has spent more than £250,000 on the adverts which were developed in partnership with creative advertising agency Home.
Unibet’s UK country manager, Phillip Manzi, told eGaming Review that the campaign had already led to a significant increase in traffic as the operator also prepares to launch a new poker iPad app in the coming weeks.
“Our proposition – Same game, Whole New Experience – is resonating well with our target audience,” he said. “Since we launched the campaign we have seen an increase of over 400% in active poker users which shows no sign of slowing down.”
Unibet rolled out its new Relax Gaming-powered poker client last week which has been developed to target casual poker players and features a range of avatars, missions and achievements.
The operator this week completed its migration over all dot.com markets, except Denmark, from Microgaming’s MPN network. “The migration has been very smooth and simple for the players as Microgaming were flexible and assisting on their end,” Daniel Eskola, head of gaming at Unibet, told eGR.
“Initial activity on our standalone solution has been very encouraging and the feedback from the players has been positive,” he added.
Unibet has also signed a deal this week to become the official betting partner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship on a two-year deal ahead of the mixed martial arts’ first European event of 2014 this weekend.
