Veikkaus full-year online revenues hit 300 million
Finnish lottery and sports betting monopoly sees 17% rise in online turnover as channel accounts for more than 40% of sales in 2014
Finland’s state-owned lottery and sports betting monopoly operator Veikkaus posted digital gross gaming revenues of approximately 300m (£211m) for the full-year ended 31 December 2014.
In its annual report, published yesterday, the firm also reported online turnover for the 12 months was up 17% to 789.6 million and accounted for around 43% of the operator’s total turnover. Veikkaus said it was targeting 330m in online GGR for 2015.
The operator’s website received an average of 414,600 visits each week, up 7.1% year-on-year, and Antti Tiihonen, Veikkaus’ VP of digital sales, told eGaming Review the strong growth was driven by a new responsive front-end, which was developed in-house.
Veikkaus’ mobile offering now accounts for around a quarter of all digital sales, with the channel a major consideration during the redesign of the operator’s front-end.
Tiihonen added that a range of new products including eTickets for its lottery games and better targeted messaging with a focus on analytics and personalisation had also helped growth.
Veikkaus CEO Juha Koponen said the firm had revised its development process in order to respond to the market in “an even more flexible and nimble way in the middle of the digitalising operating environment”.
