VICTOR CHANDLER will launch in South Africa on 1 March and is shortly to launch a marketing campaign there ahead of the World Cup in that country this summer.
The British bookmakers’ South Africa-facing site, VictorChandler.co.za, will stage a soft launch on 1 March, with Victor Chandler himself to visit the country in April when the site begins a marketing push.
Operations director Paul Louis told EGRmagazine.com that “by the time the World Cup starts we would like to be a leading brand in South Africa.”
However Louis denied that the launch would come too late for the brand to establish sufficient strength for the company to fully capitalise on the World Cup.
Louis said: “From a brand point of view we believe that that the Victor Chandler brand has historic brand value and that Victor Chandler has some market recognition in most English-speaking jurisdictions. We are well-branded across [horserace] courses and any English-speaking country that is serious about horseracing knows us.”
The Gibraltar-based bookmaker received its licence to operate an online sportsbook in South Africa in December. As reported on EGRmagazine.com yesterday, Victor Chandler is launching an in-play running betting product next week ahead of the Cup.
