Under the terms of its advance deposit wagering license, WatchandWager said it has posted a Surety Bond to the state in order to protect player balances.
The operator said it had also agreed to pay source market fees to Emerald Downs, the state’s only thoroughbred racetrack.
WatchandWager president Ed Comins said being granted a license by the WHRC and launching in Washington was a âmilestoneâ moment for his company.
âWe are excited to add Washington State to WatchandWager’s growing list of states where we can accept wagers,â Comins said.
âThe fact that it is a state with an increasing population and a rapidly-expanding ADW market makes it an excellent business opportunity for WatchandWager,â he added.
The expansion in Washington comes at a time when the operator is locked in a fierce battle in its native California over the role of the racetracks in online poker legislation.
The race tracks, including WatchandWager, believe they should be able to operate online poker sites to players in the state, while some of the tribes argue they should not.
And until a compromise can be reached, the state is unlikely to be able to drive a bill across the line and into law.
