This weekâs round-up includes mobile growth for 32Red and GVC and a mobile sportsbook launch for Matt Trippâs BetEasy brand
Casino operator 32Red reported its mobile casino business had more than doubled year-on-year and contributed a third of total casino sales in the first half of 2014. The growth in its mobile business contributed towards a 19% increase in gross gaming revenues to £22.6m, with EBITDA rising 21% to £2.3m.
GVC meanwhile reported sluggish growth in from its mobile sportsbook business. Sportsbook revenues derived from mobile devices stood at just 22% in Q3, substantially below revenue splits recorded by other sportsbook firms. The operator did however state that new native iOS and Android apps were expected to drive mobile revenues when they are released early next year.
Australian bookmaker BetEasy, led by Sportsbet founder Matt Tripp, launched a new iOS sportsbook product this week as the firm targeted a share in the Australian online sportsbook market. A tablet-optimised product is set to follow in the coming months and will challenge the likes of Ladbrokes, William Hill and Betfred who have all released Australia-facing mobile apps.
Unibet rolled out a new update to its Unibet Pro sportsbook app this week, adding new teams and tournaments to its live score notification centre which allows customers to keep up to date with sporting scores through the appâs push messaging capabilities. A number of performance improvements and bug fixes were also made.
Sky Betting and Gaming continued its incremental update drive by adding tournament support to its Sky Poker app, while also making a number stability improvements to its SkyBet sportsbook application. Elsewhere 888 updated its casino and slot games app to make several adjustments following Appleâs release of iOS8 last week.
