William Hill hires new global brand and marketing director
Charlotte Emery joins operator’s digital leadership team following six years in senior brand roles at British American Tobacco

William Hill has hired British American Tobacco (BAT) brand director Charlotte Emery as its new global brand and marketing director, replacing Kristian Welch who left the operator in the summer, EGR can reveal.
Emery joined the London-listed bookmaker’s senior digital leadership team earlier this month from the cigarette and tobacco manufacturing company and will report into Hills’ chief digital officer Ulrik Bengtsson.
“Charlotte is a great addition to the team and her role is a key one as we continue to expand the international reach of the business,” Bengtsson said.
“Her extensive experience in regulated markets like tobacco and alcohol is beneficial and we look forward to her implementing our brand marketing strategy across the business,” he added.
Emery has more than 20 years’ experience in various senior brand and innovation roles, most recently at BAT where she was brand director for Kent and previously brand director for the Lucky Strike and Vogue brands.
Prior to BAT Emery also worked in the food and drinks industries at Premier Foods, Twinings and Bacardi.
“William Hill is a great business with great opportunities ahead of it and I’m looking forward to making my contribution to the long-term growth plans the business has embarked on,” she said.
Emery replaces William Hill’s former brand and marketing chief Kristian Welch who was seconded to the US earlier this year but left in late summer.
Welch originally joined Hills as digital marketing director from Gocompare.com in January 2017.
