William Hill’s media chief Graham Sharpe to depart
Media relations director to end his 45-year career at the firm this week after agreeing redundancy terms

William Hill’s long-serving media relations director, Graham Sharpe, is to leave the company this week after more than 45 years at the UK bookmaker.
Sharpe, whose departure was first reported by The Racing Post, has agreed redundancy terms with the operator and will vacate his position within the next few days having originally joined Hills in March 1972.
During his tenure at Hills, Sharpe worked initially as a boardman and then later as a settler and then a manager, before taking up his most recent position of promoting the operator in the media.
The former local newspaper journalist will continue to work with William Hill on its Sports Book of the Year award, which Sharpe founded in 1989 and is one of Hills’ longest-running sponsorships.
This year’s winners will be announced on 28 November, with the winner awarded £29,000, a free £2,000 bet and a day at the races.
“Graham’s 45-year career with William Hill is a remarkable testament to his talent and stamina,” a William Hill spokesperson told EGR Intel.
“We are delighted he will continue to support us on the Sports Book Awards over the coming years and he will remain a close friend of all at the firm.”
Sharpe’s departure comes after William Hill’s PR manager, Jon Ivan-Duke, also left the bookmaker last month having worked at Hills since 2013.
