William Hill’s #YourOdds TV ad cleared by ASA
The Advertising Standards Authority overrules complaint about five star rating of William Hill app

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has quashed a complaint made against William Hill for a TV ad promoting the bookmaker’s #YourOdds request market.
The ad aired on 18 June and one scene referenced reviews of the William Hill mobile betting app from five publications, including the Daily Record, which gave it five stars.
The complainant argued that the Daily Record never published a review of the William Hill app and challenged whether the five star rating was genuine.
William Hill admitted the rating was never published in the Scottish national newspaper but argued the rating was obtained after they invited the Daily Record to test the mobile app.
The ASA ruled the review was impartial and the advert was unlikely to mislead consumers after the operator submitted a copy of a confirmation email from the Daily Record in which permission had been granted to use the five star rating.
