Winamax and Paf among Spanish licences ended for inactivity
Four operators have specific game licences revoked by Spanish gambling regulator
Spanish regulator DGOJ has ended licences belonging to four operators for failing to launch gambling operations in Spain within the required period.
Åland Islands operator Paf Consulting ABP had its Spanish online bingo licence terminated following the expiry of a three-year period in which it was required to commence regulated operations under its licence agreement.
French operator Winamax had its sports betting licence ended by regulators for failing to launch sports betting operations within the one-year period required under its own licence.
Malta-headquartered operator Beatya Online Entertainment PLC had its licence for Bacarrat gaming ended for inactivity while Spanish operator Unidad Editorial Juegos also had its horseracing betting licence ended.
Under Spanish regulatory laws the DGOJ can extinguish specific licences, if it deems the operators involved have not exercised any activities in this area for a period of at least one year.
Operators can choose to extend their specific licences pending the launch of regulated operations, however they must first submit a written application to the DGOJ to do so.
Earlier this month, UK operator Rank Digital had its unique roulette licence terminated by the regulator for failing to effectively launch roulette operations within the three-year period granted under its licence.
In all cases, the status of other specific game licences awarded to operators who have already commenced operations in required areas remains unaffected.
