Zecure Gaming appeal over Swedish fine rejected for third time
Operator still expected to pay SEK3m punishment for historical betting involving under-17s football fixture

Sweden’s Supreme Administrative Court has thrown out Zecure Gaming’s third appeal over a SEK3m fine relating to offering betting markets for under-18s football matches.
Zecure Gaming was originally fined SEK3.5m in June 2019 after the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) found the operator to be offering betting on a match between Georgia under-17s andSlovakia under-17s in January 2019.
At the time, Zecure Gaming said the mistake was due to a technical error in the company’s filter which allowed an under-18s fixture to slip through the net.
Despite this reasoning and confirming the error had been rectified, the SGA fine still stood, which led Zecure Gaming to lodge an initial appeal with the Administrative Court.
In April 2020, the Administrative Court partially upheld the appeal and sided with the SGA but reduced the fine to SEK3m.
Zecure Gaming once again appealed, taking its case to the Court of Appeal, which subsequently dismissed the claim in June 2021.
The Court of Appeal noted there was no reason to question the new fine subjected to Zecure Gaming and upheld it at SEK3m.
The latest rejection from the Swedish legal system comes as the Supreme Administrative Court dismissed Zecure Gaming’s appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision.
In a statement, the SGA said: “The decision was appealed first to the Administrative Court and then to the Court of Appeal, both of which rejected the appeal. Zecure Gaming thus appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court, which did not grant leave to appeal.”
