Although more widely known for its expertise in lotteries, IGT-owned Lottomatica is a formidable beast in both sports betting and casino verticals in its home territory of Italy, and one which is able to go toe-to-toe with foreign operators such as Paddy Power and William Hill.
The firm is estimated to be the third biggest player in the market in terms of GGR, narrowly behind market leaders PokerStars and bet365. However, Lottomatica is the market leader in casino and the largest indigenous online gaming brand.
The firm recently took advantage of the regulation of fantasy sports to sign a deal with supplier Mondogoal, although the impact this product will have in a market where sports betting is on the rise is likely to be small in the short-term.
