FanDuel launches Bitcoin Bowl
DFS operator taps into crypto mania with four bitcoins up for grabs on NFL Wildcard weekend

FanDuel has launched two new tournaments offering players the chance to win a bitcoin for the first time.
The firm has unveiled two contests for the NFL’s Wildcard Weekend under the Bitcoin Bowl moniker where fans can win one bitcoin in a free contest, or two bitcoins in a $3 contest.
“When your team makes the playoffs, the sky’s the limit. And from what we’ve read online, bitcoin investors know exactly how that feels,” FanDuel said in its announcement.
“So, for Week 1 of the playoffs, we’re giving you two chances to hop on the ultimate bandwagon and play to win some bitcoins of your own. Enter our Bitcoin Bowl Free Play on 1/6 and finish in first to win 1 bitcoin — and enter our Bitcoin Bowl Tournament as well for only $3 to take a shot at even bigger prizes.”
The tournament page also features a ticker showing the fluctuating price of bitcoin – $14,700 currently.
The value of bitcoin has increased more than 1,300% since January 2017.
Interestingly the $3 tournament has no upper limit on entries, meaning FanDuel could theoretically generate an enormous rake.
As of Tuesday evening, the firm had already generated more than 8,000 entries, or more than $24,000 in entry fees. The contest closes on Saturday.
Soooo FanDuel is gonna do pretty well on this based on early returns. #bitcoinbowl pic.twitter.com/Es7N1KacDi
