
Scientific Games appoints new head of legal
Former Jones Day partner joins as EVP and chief legal officer

Scientific Games has confirmed the appointment of James Sottile as its new executive vice president and chief legal officer effective immediately.
In his new role, Sottile will oversee Scientfic Games’ global legal affairs and report directly to company president and CEO Barry Cottle.
A veteran litigator, Sottile has most recently served as a New York-based partner for US legal firm Jones Day, concentrating on commercial and business issues. Prior to this he worked in a similar capacity for Zuckerman Spaeder LLP, Baach Robinson & Lewis and Caplin & Drysdale over a 25-year period.
Scientific Games CEO Barry Cottle welcomed the appointment of Sottile, saying: “Jim brings more than 30 years of experience working across multiple industries. He is an accomplished legal strategist and litigator, as well as an experienced leader.
“I look forward to working with him, as he guides our world-class legal organization to support our strategic objectives and positively impact our business results. He is a terrific addition to our executive team.”
Cottle confirmed that current executive vice president and chief legal officer David Smail will stay on until the end of the year in an advisory capacity.
