DraftKings’ former head of sportsbook departs
Sean Hurley left the DFS giant last month to pursue other opportunities in the US market

DraftKings’ former head of sportsbook Sean Hurley has left the company, EGR NA can reveal.
Hurley joined the DFS operator back in February as its first head of sportsbook, and helped oversee the launch of its online sportsbook in New Jersey, before becoming head of commercial growth at the New York-based company.
However, Hurley left the business last month to pursue other opportunities in the US online gambling space.
“A year on from when I first embarked on my move to the US, the market has a plethora of incredible opportunities and I feel that that now, with G2E just around the corner, it is the ideal time to take a step back and asses everything this brave new regulating US market has to offer,” Hurley told EGR.
“My time at DraftKings was extremely rewarding,” he added.
“I got to use my whole skill set from guiding the product, leading all commercial conversations with platform and feed suppliers to getting the nascent sportsbook division operationally ready to compete with the big European operators.
“I also got to use my business development skills including playing an instrumental role in casino market access agreements. I have no doubt that the razor sharp management team at DraftKings will continue to grow on their market-leading position and be a force in the US gaming market for many years to come.”
DraftKings declined to comment.
The departure comes amid several sportsbook personnel moves at DraftKings, with Johnny Avello and Ed Malinowski joining the firm, alongside former Caesars exec Frank Kunovic.
All three execs have extensive retail experience, while CEO Jason Robins said last month that DraftKings was looking to get into the retail betting business.
The company is still hiring trading and risk management executives for its Vegas office.
