American Gaming Association names new CEO
Former Washington insider Bill Miller appointed to succeed Geoff Freeman

The American Gaming Association (AGA) has announced the appointment of Bill Miller as its new president and CEO, effective from January 2019.
Miller replaces Stacey Papadopoulos, who had served as the AGA’s interim CEO following the departure of Geoff Freeman in July. After Freeman’s resignation, a seven-member search committee was formed to search for a successor.
The committee was led by Tim Wilmott, CEO of Penn National Gaming and Chairman of the AGA board of directors, who said the AGA was “extremely thankful” for the work that Papadopoulos and VP of public affairs Sara Slane had done during the intervening period.
In his most recent role, Miller served as SVP for the Business Roundtable, an association comprised of CEO’s from all sectors of the US economy, serving as the primary liaison between the organisation and the US senate/executive branch.
Wilmott added: “Bill’s extensive work with federal policymakers and as a seasoned leader of membership and industry advocacy organisations was critical to our decision.”
Speaking about his new role as CEO and president of the AGA, Miller said he was honoured to be appointed to an organisation with “a well-earned reputation for advancing the casino gaming industry’s legislative and communications priorities and addressing the issues that matter most to its members.”
