TheScore CEO: Our mobile apps will engage like Facebook and Messenger
John Levy says the UX will be homogeneous across both apps and will follow one single brand

TheScore’s betting app and its existing Scores app will engage with each other like Facebook and its Messenger app, group CEO John Levy has revealed.
Speaking at a conference last week, Levy said: “It’s probably going to be a separate app but once you sign up it will be like Facebook and Facebook Messenger, you’ll be floating back and forth but you’ll think it’s all one brand and one offering.”
The app is being developed in partnership with Bet.Works and is set for launch in New Jersey in the coming months, in partnership with Monmouth Park.
Levy said he expects to take a significant percentage of New Jersey’s market share, while the firm is also in “active conversations” in other states.
Levy implied theScore was taking a relaxed approach to the rate of sports betting legalisation across the US.
He said: “Our users aren’t going anywhere, we know where they are. If New York takes a year to a year and half to open up our users aren’t going anywhere.
“We’re going to continue with that relationship and make [sports betting] available as soon as it’s regulated and licensed,” he added.
Bet.Works hired industry veteran Jay Rood last week as chief risk officer.
