Exclusive: TheScore mulls international betting expansion
CEO John Levy says operator’s dual-app model could be scalable on an international level

TheScore is considering expanding its betting product internationally once it gains significant market share in the US, EGR North America can reveal
Speaking to EGR this week, theScore CEO John Levy said the media company’s model of having a seamless customer journey across its two apps could be scalable on an international level.
“Whether it’s in the UK [with soccer] – although that’s a very competitive market – or India with cricket, passion for sports is global,” Levy said.

The firm is also optimistic about expanding into Canada in the next 12 months after the Premier of Ontario committed to betting in his recent budget.
“What we’ve been led to believe from our lobbyists is this is going to happen sometime within the next year within Canada,” Levy told EGR.
“In Canada we’re the most used, most well-known sports app in the country.
“By the time Canada comes on board we will be so much smarter and further down the road, and the same things is true when New York comes online.”
Levy said theScore’s flagship app is second to ESPN as the most-used sports media app in the US.
The firm does not have the same level of exposure in Europe but is known among keen bettors and soccer followers in the UK.
TheScore’s betting app went live in New Jersey in September and will likely launch in Indiana or Iowa next.
