Playmaker targets global growth with Toronto Ventures Exchange listing
Canada-based sports media firm appoints Jake Cassaday as chief operating officer in board reshuffle

Playmaker has announced that it will be listed on the city’s TSX Venture Exchange, which will trade under the ticker symbol “PMKR”.
The newly listed Toronto-based company aims to leverage media to combine an ecosystem of engaged sports fans that will be monetized alongside sports betting companies, blue-chip advertisers and leagues and teams.
In April Playmaker completed its first acquisition with the purchase of Futbol Sites, a digital media group that specialises in attracting football-related audiences.
Futbol Sites owns and operates over 15 websites, which attracts 110 million sessions per month on its outlets, with 50 million unique users per month, aiming to connect sports betting operators with fans in Latin America and the US.
In addition, it reaches 300 million social media users per month, with 12 million subscribers to its daily push notifications service.
Playmaker has said its strategy will focus on brands that have high-quality assets, with successful management teams who have a track record of attaining growth and profit.
In addition to its listing on the TSX Venture Exchange, the sports media firm has confirmed the appointment of Jake Cassaday as chief operating officer.

Jake Cassaday, Playmaker
Cassaday previously served as a partner at North America-facing venture capital fund Relay Ventures, a fund which is currently a lead investor in the Playmaker business.
He will join an experienced management team spearheaded by former The Stars Group SVP Jordan Gnat, who currently serves as CEO for the firm.
Speaking about the listing and the roadmap ahead, Gnat said: “Today marks the next step in Playmaker’s journey to become a global player in digital sports media.
“We will leverage our experienced management team and exceptional board of directors to bring great value to our shareholders.
“These are exciting times in the early life of Playmaker. Our mission is to build an ecosystem of assets that will provide sports fans and our clients with outsized value,” Gnat added.
