PointsBet Canada adds marketing muscle with new VP hire
Brand marketing veteran Dave Rivers links up with sportsbook operator’s Canadian arm

PointsBet Canada has appointed Dave Rivers as its new VP of marketing in the latest hire of a concerted recruitment spree by the Australian operator’s Canadian subsidiary.
A veteran of the marketing sector, Rivers spent 18 years at Canadian telecommunications company Bell in several marketing-facing directorial roles.
In his most recent role with the 140-year-old telecoms firm, he was responsible for driving the company’s national sponsorship strategy and portfolio from contract negotiations to activation and content creation.
Rivers has also held senior leadership and ownership positions with three start-up businesses in the travel and marketing sector.
In his new role as VP of marketing, Rivers will report into PointsBet Canada CCO Nic Sulsky.

“Dave is one of the smartest and most capable marketers in North America and is going to play a key role as we prepare to launch a business that is unique to our roots here in Canada, as well as one that will use its own world-class technology to deliver for our future customers,” Sulsky said.
“He’s a leader, a creator, a mentor and community builder.
“I can’t wait to begin our work together and continue to build-out a company that delivers something completely different for the sports betting public in Canada,” Sulsky added.
Over the last six months, PointsBet has been on a programme of active expansion into the Canadian market, beginning with the hire of Sulsky in June.
In July, PointsBet Canada named Scott Vanderwel as its first CEO and has since added lawyer Chantal Cipriano as VP of legal, compliance and people and Dale Fallon as its senior director of product.
Last month, PointsBet Canada agreed a multi-year deal to become the official and exclusive sports betting partner of Canadian ice hockey content specialists The Nation Network and dailyfaceoff.com.
The tie-up allows for the integration of PointsBet odds and analysis, as well as access to enhanced tools with the dailyfaceoff.com site and across The Nation Network’s affiliate sites.
