Andrewes, who oversaw the online division for UK bookmaker Ladbrokes for three years until his departure 2011, will be based at the Resorts Casino property in Atlantic City and report directly in to CEO Mark Giannantonio.
He will be responsible for overseeing Resortsâ digital activities in New Jersey and beyond as more states consider regulating online casino and poker.
âI have been helping Resorts with their digital business for the last few months and was delighted to join on a permanent basis last month,â Andrewes told EGR NA.
âThere is a real buzz around the casino for the online business particularly with the imminent PokerStars launch. Resorts Digital has a great team and we have gained 10% market share in a relatively short space of time. We are now looking forward to taking the business to the next level,â he added.
Andrewes will initially manage the business through his US-based consultancy business.
However Andrewes, who was also MD of Victor Chandler and also more recently CEO of Locus Gaming, told EGR NA the long-term plan is for him to join the operator as CEO of Resorts Digital, pending regulatory approval.
Resorts was late to the party in New Jersey when it launched back in February 2015 using the NYX Gaming platform, but in March generated revenues of $1.3m with around 10% share of the market.
The operator also has a partnership with PokerStars for the poker giant to use its interactive wagering permit to offer online poker and casino to players in the Garden State.
Stars soft-launched its site to a limited pool of players this week, with a full launch slated for 21 March.
