New Jersey egaming win up 41%

Online casino continues to soar but poker showing signs of a âsummer swoonâ
New Jerseyâs five online casino platforms posted a 41% year-on-year growth in gaming win for June, according to new figures from the stateâs Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).
Total internet gaming win reached US$16.4m in June compared to $11.7m for the same month in 2015, although that figure represents a $100,000 drop-off from May and a $600,000 decline from April.
The casino vertical contributed the most to the year-on-year improvement, growing 47% to $14.4m, compared to 7% growth for poker to just under $2m.
For the first half of the year, online casino was up 36% versus 2015, while poker grew at around a third of that rate at less than 12%.
The Borgata and its GVC-powered sites continued to be the largest online operator, accounting for 23% of the overall market.
It was followed by the Golden Nugget and its NYX platform which secured a 21.5% revenue share, then the Tropicana and its Gamesys platform which enjoyed a 20.4% revenue share.
On poker specifically, the PokerStars bounce that Resorts Digital enjoyed back in April appears to have dissipated somewhat, as the combinationâs online poker revenue dropped for a second consecutive month, down to $778,000 from Mayâs $1.2m.
Resorts/PokerStars remained the poker market leader, ahead of Harrahâs/CIE/888 with $602,000 and Borgata/PartyGaming with $589,000.
While online poker revenue was slightly up year-on-year to $1.97m, it fell month-on-month from $2.57m as the vertical entered its traditional âsummer swoonâ. The industry is looking to the UK for help, as the DGE is reportedly nearing a deal with Great Britainâs Gambling Commission to share poker liquidity between the two jurisdictions.
