Scientific Games earns Romania licence

Las Vegas-based supplier plans further expansion into Italy and Portugal later this year
Scientific Games has been granted a licence to supply online gaming content to the Romanian market, the firm announced this week.
The certification is vital for the business as Romania-facing operators looking to progress from an interim licence to a full licence this year must also have fully-licensed suppliers.
SG Interactive content is already live with brands including 888 Casino and Unibet which are looking to obtain the full licence by the end of August.
The firm also has supply deals in place with NetBet, bwin and Betfair in Romania.
Scientific Games said in a statement: âThis expansion is a part of the organisationâs strategy to obtain rapid approval in all newly regulated jurisdictions and reflects the quality and strength of SG Interactive in market development, compliance, legal and finance.â
SG Interactiveâs portfolio of games is now live in 10 jurisdictions across the globe and the company said it is planning to enter Italy and Portugal later this year.
âBringing our products to a new jurisdiction is always exciting,â said Bob Hays, vice-president of commercial at SG Interactive.
âThe players in Romania are passionate about our content, and with many of our existing customers already licensed to operate there, weâll be able to hit the ground running with our proven portfolio. We anticipate this being the first of many efficient expansions into newly regulated locations.â
