BCLC searches for group-play games with new innovation competition
Canadian operator looking for games with real-money mechanics that also encourage socializing

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has launched a new innovation competition to find new games that encourage a more social form of gambling.
The operator is asking developers, start-ups and entrepreneurs to submit their ideas for games that encourage group play and could support real-money mechanics.
“We are focused on the “Fun with Friends” archetype, which include people whose preferences are to spend time with their family and friends,” BCLC said.
“They seek out activities that allow them to spend time with those groups and that offer an added element of entertainment.
“The challenge of the online competition is to develop games that would meet the social nature of the experiences this group is looking for.”
The registration period for the competition starts on May 23 with the full online process to be completed by August.
“We are always looking for new concepts and ideas to create new games and entertainment experiences for our customers, and by engaging with new partners we can infuse innovation into our business,” said Richard Fenster, director of corporate strategy at BCLC.
