BetMGM links up with US soccer legend Tim Howard ahead of World Cup
Longtime national team goalkeeper to serve as betting operator’s brand ambassador during month-long tournament

BetMGM has formally linked up with Tim Howard ahead of the 2022 World Cup, adding a US soccer legend to its stable of brand ambassadors just days before the world’s biggest international football event kicks off.
A fan favorite and mainstay on the US Men’s National Team (USMNT) over multiple World Cup cycles, Howard served as the starting goalkeeper for the US during both the 2010 and 2014 instalments, setting a record for the most saves in a World Cup game in a 2014 knockout match versus Belgium.
“Tim Howard’s performances on the pitch thrilled a generation of US soccer fans,” said BetMGM CRO Matt Prevost. “With Tim’s support, we will bring a similar level of excitement to our customers through various games and interactive opportunities.”
“America’s excitement for soccer is at a fever pitch and I can’t wait to take it to the next level with BetMGM, offering new ways for fans to get engaged in the game,” added Howard.
As BetMGM’s newest ambassador, Howard will help spearhead a variety of promotions and free-to-play (F2P) contests that the betting operator has in store for the upcoming tournament, highlighted by ‘Tim Howard’s Shootout Challenge.’ The daily F2P game will give users the chance to square off against Howard in a virtual shootout with a range of prizes at stake, including free bets.
Howard will also help promote BetMGM’s headline World Cup bracket challenge, where users will have the chance to win $250,000 by creating a perfect bracket.
In the absence of a golden bracket, the user with the most accurate bracket will be awarded $50,000. Participants will also be able to earn a $5 free bet for each group winner correctly selected.
In addition to the promotional support, Howard will maintain a ubiquitous media presence throughout the World Cup, creating content for BetMGM’s social media channels while making nationwide TV and radio appearances.
BetMGM users and rewards members will also have the opportunity to meet Howard at various events during the month-long tournament.
“BetMGM is at the forefront of the sports betting industry and I’m proud to be part of the team ahead of the greatest tournament in all of sports,” said Howard.
Howard joins a Who’s Who of BetMGM celebrity ambassadors including Jamie Foxx, Kevin Garnett, and Vanessa Hudgens.
