Boom Fantasy approved for New York launch
Operator passes “comprehensive regulatory review” from New York State Gaming Commission

Boom Fantasy has been granted regulatory approval to offer its daily fantasy product in New York, the firm has announced.
The permission comes from the New York State Gaming Commission, which oversees DFS in the state following the legalization and regulation of the activity in August last year.
The move also follows pressure on the regulator from Senator John Bonacic, who reportedly wrote to the Commission asking them to approve Boom earlier this month.
Boom has never been offered in New York.
“We’re excited to finally offer New York DFS players an alternative to the traditional salary-cap contest,” said Stephen Murphy, CEO of Boom Fantasy.
“It’s no secret that the DFS industry has been starved for innovation. The basic format of salary-cap contests hasn’t changed in 10 years.
“This permit, which we received after a comprehensive regulatory review by the New York State Gaming Commission, proves that there are fun, innovative ways to legally offer DFS contests that other operators have ignored.”
Earlier this summer, Boom completed a $2m funding round and acquired the assets of rival firm Draftpot.
Following the transactions Murphy told EGR the firm was poised to make “some big splashes” with increased investment in marketing and affiliate deals ahead of the NFL season.
